| RE-lease Your Potential! |
|
Neighbourhood Work Centre runs many training courses one of which is called RE-lease. If you have a disability or long term illness, you may be able to benefit from the RE-lease Scheme to be offered across the Thames Valley as part of the Government's New Deal Programme. The scheme, run by Support Shop Ltd in association with Berkshire Disability Information Network (bdin), aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge to work from home. There will be opportunities for those possessing or wishing to acquire particular skills to become self-employed or start your own business. If you prefer to be an employee, you will be given help to find a job. Disability Awareness Training will be delivered to potential employers to address any barriers they may have to employing people with a disability. "This scheme is ideal for people whose mobility is restricted due to illness will enable them to earn a living in their own home and work flexible hours to suit their particular lifestyle" said Colin Willman, Director of Support Shop Ltd. "Training will be delivered at various centres across the Thames Valley to reduce requirements for travel." "We will also visit people in their own home if their mobility is severely restricted." "The centres will provide a place to study and work as an alternative to the home. All premises will be accessible to people of all disabilities and wherever possible, specialist equipment will be provided if needed", said Colin. "We may also be able to provide computers to help participants study and work in their home until they are sufficiently skilled and established to acquire their own." We would like to hear from businesses who can offer work to home workers - either as employees or sub-contractors - or may be replacing an old computer or printer as we will gratefully receive any equipment no longer needed. If you are disabled or have a long term illness and you would like to benefit from this scheme - or to make a contribution to the project - contact Colin Willman at Support Shop Ltd. |
